Volley Star isn't about volleyball accuracy as much as it is about leveling your characters, using Talent Toast, and learning the required serve, pass, and smash controls. If you want fast clears, you can use the truck strategy to block the net and force wins — you do not need perfect play from the start.
What Volley Star Is And What You Need To Earn

Volley Star is a limited-time event with rewards tied to earning stars. The event expects players to rack up 50 or 60 stars, which means you need to clear rounds and perform well enough to hit those thresholds for rewards. It isn't a pure skill test — progression and character leveling are major factors.
Character Progression And Talent Toast

Your character stats are found in the bottom-right profile menu in the event. Each character comes with individual stats — serving, smashing, blocking, and saving balls — and these stats increase as you level each character. Talent Toast, earned after rounds, can be used to boost these stats even further. If you keep losing, it's fine: the event is designed for gradual improvement as you gain experience and feed Talent Toast to characters.
prerequisites
- Access the event's character profiles from the bottom-right menu.
- Keep playing rounds to earn Talent Toast.
- Use Talent Toast on chosen characters to further upgrade their volleyball stats.
- Understand that separate stats (serving, smashing, rescuing, blocking) rise as you level up.

AI Teammates And Safe Characters

As your AI teammate's stats rise, certain roles become notably strong, and the mode can even become mostly automatic:
| Character | Best Role | When Strong |
|---|---|---|
| Mint | Saving/Receiving | When maxed, can save balls from anywhere |
| Shinku | Blocking | Blocking is only viable once fully leveled |
| Donko | Smashing | High stats improve smash reliability |
| Chaos | Blocking | Unique ability to block balls |
When your AI teammate (MC or other) reaches max serving skills, matches can become mostly AFK, since opponents do not return serves effectively and your AI handles the bulk of points.
Truck Strategy And Where It Breaks

Clear-Clear Or Star-Clear: Which Goal You Are Chasing
The truck cheese is a fast way to clear the event, but does not necessarily help with earning every reward. For full stars, you must still meet requirements: landing a smash hit and winning by a three-point lead. If your AI teammate wins too quickly, you may not be able to perform the required actions before the match ends. After leveling, matches usually become easier and the cheese strategy is optional.
Choose your goal
- Use the truck method if you want a quick event clear and aren't concerned about getting all stars or rewards.
- Play normally (with proper serving and smashing) if you want to maximize your star count and get full event rewards — and remember to perform the smash hit yourself before your AI teammate ends the match.
Also worth knowing
- Camera preference: Switching to third-person view (Z key) makes Volley Star much easier to play and read compared to the default camera.
- Truck cheese reliability: The truck strategy still worked at the time of testing. AI opponents do not adapt well to vehicles blocking the net.
- Smash star caution: You can miss the needed smash-hit star if your AI teammate scores too many points before you get the smash action in.
- Truck repositioning: Positioning may need to be repeated, since event dialogue or round transitions can move or clear the truck from the court.
FAQ
How do you get 60 or 50 stars in the Volley Star event?
To reach 60 or 50 stars, keep clearing rounds and progressing through the event — star rewards are tied to overall event performance and completion.
What are the basic controls for serving, passing, and smashing in Volley Star?
Serving uses left click to start, then right click at the timing window; direction is set with A and D, and smash is spacebar plus right click at the right moment.
How do character levels affect volleyball stats in Neverness to Everness?
Each character has individual volleyball stats (serving, smashing, blocking, saving) which increase as their level rises; Talent Toast can boost these stats even further.
How does the truck strategy cheese the Volley Star event?
By parking a construction-zone truck on the enemy side of the volleyball court, the net is blocked, causing the opponent AI to miss returns and making wins much easier.
Which characters are mentioned as strong for saving, blocking, or smashing?
Mint was described as excellent for saving and receiving, Shinku for blocking once leveled, Donko for smashing, and Chaos as another strong blocker.
Can you AFK Volley Star once your AI teammate is fully leveled?
Yes, once your AI teammate’s serve (and other) stats are fully leveled, the mode can become effectively AFK as the teammate scores points without opponent returns.
