Wuthering Waves Qingxiao Guide: Best Build and Rotation

How to play Qingxiao right now: her full rotation, best weapon and Echo setup, sequence breakpoints, and the teams that fit her tune-strain style.

8 min read

Qingxiao plays as a tune-strain main DPS whose best performance comes from running her full rotation: build up both Forte bars, use her enhanced Skill to fill them, swap into enhanced Heavy to change stance, then finish with her second enhanced Heavy and Ultimate. Her best build is centered around her signature weapon, a dedicated five-piece Echo set, and teams that supply tune-strain support and sustained healing to match her rotation.

Qingxiao kit breakdown

Qingxiao is an Aero main DPS whose damage is distributed across multiple attack types. Her kit centers on tune strain and attack-based multipliers, which means she does not benefit as much from boosts to specific attack categories like basic, heavy, or liberation.

Her Forte circuit is split into left and right bars: the left fills from grounded basic attacks and Skill (the E skill) and the right from aerial basics and Intro. The enhanced Skill, available once per rotation after Intro, fills both bars quickly when it is used in its glowing green form.

Heaven's Clarity grants double Forte bar generation once each rotation, activated at the start of combat and refreshed by her Ultimate. Mind Lock is a stacking mechanic: each time a teammate applies tune strain (and when Qingxiao uses her enhanced Heavy to change form), she piles up stacks that provide all-damage percent amp. Her enhanced Heavy two is notably powered up by Mind Lock stacks, doubling the damage for each rotation. Qingxiao's own attacks inflict tune strain, rapidly stacking effects for her weapon and team buffs.

Her outro is a simple damage burst; the core play is to fill Forte bars and then cash out with big hits from enhanced Heavy and her ultimate.

steps

  1. Start with Intro.
  2. Use basic attacks until the right Forte bar is fully filled. Wait for the bar to be completely full; do not use the enhanced Skill early when it first appears.
  3. Cast the enhanced Skill once the right Forte bar is full, which fills both bars quickly in its glowing form.
  4. Use enhanced Heavy to change form.
  5. Hold basic attack to fill the new Forte bar (now sword stance).
  6. Trigger enhanced Heavy two for big damage once the bar is full.
  7. Finish with Ultimate. Always end the rotation with Ultimate, as it refreshes Heaven's Clarity for the next cycle.

Her rotation is simpler than many main DPS patterns, as the key chains are mostly holding the basic attack input and waiting for abilities to light up in sequence.

Weapons

The signature weapon is the clear best: it offers high crit rate, attack, Aero damage bonuses from tune strain application, and additional ignore defense. Qingxiao's kit inflicts tune strain on every attack, rapidly stacking the bonus. Weapons that only buff one attack type, such as basic or heavy, offer limited value due to her spread-out damage profile.

If you do not own her signature, a fallback weapon that offers crit rate or crit damage plus attack or generic damage amp is recommended.

comparison

Glint of Clouds (Signature)

  • Crit rate, attack, Aero damage bonus, ignore defense
  • Tune strain stacking is very fast due to her kit

Emerald of Genesis

  • Crit rate/stat stick with some attack or generic bonus
  • Acceptable fallback, but weaker than signature

Other swords

  • Stat sticks if offering crit and attack/generic amp
  • Weapons buffing only one attack category are generally poor fits

prerequisites

  • Farm the new five-piece set Heart of Evil's Purge.
  • Use Calamity Effigy as your four-cost Echo for Aero damage.
  • Main stats:
    • For 4-4-1-1-1 setup: Crit rate and crit damage on the two four-cost pieces.
    • For 4-3-3-1-1 setup: Crit on the four-cost, Aero on the three-costs, attack on the one-costs.
  • Aim for at least 80% crit rate, with high attack and crit damage; Energy Recharge (ER) remains relevant for smooth rotations.
  • Temporary stepping stone: Five-piece Aero set (Sierra Gale) if Heart of Evil's Purge is not ready; other Aero sets are suboptimal.

Sequence nodes

Where to stop for sequence nodes

Choose the first sequence node if you want the main value spike: it delivers extra crit rate, front-loaded protection, and a strong extra damage mechanic that stacks for the first two to three rotations. The second node increases Mind Lock cap and enhanced Heavy damage but is less impactful than expected. The third sequence node is also a powerful breakpoint, greatly boosting Ultimate crit and enhanced Heavy two damage. S4-S6 mostly add scaling and comfort.

If you want clear front-loaded power and the best investment value, S1 is the standout. S3 is notable for damage scaling, but S2 is not treated as the main stopping point.

Team comps

Qingxiao's strongest teams are built around tune strain synergy. She takes the main DPS slot, supported by units who amplify tune strain and provide universal damage amp.

Team Core Sustain Support slot Substitute
Qingxiao teams Mornye Denia / Lynae Generic sustain or filler
Tune-strain focus Tune-break sustain Universal damage amp via tune strain If Denia or Lynae are missing, any unit can fill, but team value drops
  • Mornye is preferred sustain for tune breaks, but any generic sustain is playable, though tune-strain stacking will suffer.
  • If Denia or Lynae are missing, substitute with any available unit, but the guide advises against heavy investment unless you also have the key teammates.
  • Team DPS increases the more tune-strain-specific teammates are present, so synergy is critical.

Pull and build priority

Also worth knowing

  • Ultimate timing: Always use Ultimate at the end of the rotation to refresh Heaven's Clarity for the next loop.
  • Sequence node power: S1 is much stronger than it first appears, while the best stopping point is often node three for advanced players; S2 is not the main breakpoint.
  • Enhanced Skill use: Wait until the right Forte bar is fully filled before pressing the enhanced Skill, not just at 90%.
  • Movement input: Her flight ability can be activated using Space plus Dodge, not only via basic + Skill input.
  • Signature tune-strain: Her signature sword stacks tune-strain bonuses quickly because she inflicts tune strain on every attack.

FAQ

How do you play Qingxiao's full rotation?

Open with Intro, use basic attacks to fill the right Forte bar, cast the enhanced Skill only once the right bar is full, then use enhanced Heavy to change stance, hold basic attacks to fill the new Forte bar, trigger enhanced Heavy two, and finish with Ultimate to refresh Heaven's Clarity.

What weapon should you use on Qingxiao if you don't have her signature?

Equip a crit rate or crit damage sword that offers attack or generic damage bonus; Emerald of Genesis was named as a reasonable fallback. Avoid weapons that only boost one attack category.

What echo set and main stats does Qingxiao want?

Farm the new five-piece Heart of Evil's Purge set with Calamity Effigy as your four-cost. For 4-4-1-1-1, use crit rate and crit damage on four-costs; for 4-3-3-1-1, crit on the four-cost, Aero on three-costs, attack on one-costs.

Is S1 or S2 the best stopping point for Qingxiao?

The guide recommends S1 as the main breakpoint. S2 is good but not the primary investment tier for most players.

What teams does the guide recommend for Qingxiao?

Qingxiao teams are built around tune-strain synergy: she is main DPS, Mornye for sustain and tune-break, Denia or Lynae in the support slot. Generic sustain or other fillers can work, but team value drops without the key teammates.

Should you pull Qingxiao at S0 or go for S1?

S0 is solid and playable, but the guide recommends going for S1 for the best value. If you're low on pulls or missing the ideal teammates, be cautious—her full value depends on tune-strain synergy and proper team support.
